New Star Trek Trailer: Ahahahahahahaha!
It seems to me like this is some sort of reality reboot for the Star Trek Franchise. Regardless, it looks awful but at least Paramount is not pretending that this thing is gonna be any good. So we have fair warning unlike Indiana jones 4.

you think this looks awful? i dunno, i thought it looked kinda cool.
i gave up on Trek around the time of Voyager, so i don't have as much emotional investment, but still i liked what i saw.
and why do you think Paramount knows this isn't going to be any good? i'm not arguing, i just don't understand what you're referring to.
I dunno I'm willing to see what they do. Some of it looks pretty darn good IMO.
There's also more action in that trailer than the whole of what Berman and Braga did under their tenure.
Regardless of whether we like the movie it will be a major hit. Mark my words.
Simon Pegg?
As SCOTTY???
NOOOOOO!!!
Why! Why, Simon? Why have you sold your soul to hollywood? WHY?
Mission Impossible 3 was bad enough!
Please, Simon! Just get back together with Nick Frost, Edgar Wright and Jessica Hynes and make another series of Spaced!
PLEEEASE!
*cries*
Yowsa! I can't wait!
Prolly be a big hit w/the Sci-Fi teen crowd. Will let you know...since I have one of my own!
PS. James Franco is the new hotness for one particular teen...
I damaged my suspension bridge of disbelief when little Jimmy Kirk did the Corvette/Toonces crash scene in the trailer. I am not sure whether I rolled my eyes, headslapped, or said "Meh!" but I am pretty sure I did one.
I fear Swiny is correct on this one.
Well, I'm also into this movie. Never was much of a Star Trek fan, but it got me hooked. It doesn't have to be too good, doesn't it?
I dunno...I thought the trailer looked kind of cool (though it looks like it's probably going to have a beginning that needs to be forgotten, like the first part of Star Wars Episode III - wrecked the whole movie for me!).
I'm sure it'll still be a lot better than Nemesis was. That was the only Trek movie that had me gritting my teeth almost throughout.
(ST-V never happened. Shut up.)
it is pretty AND potentially awful.
my big complaint is "why, oh why, can't we come up with a new idea rather than re-hashing old good ideas (Old bad ideas re-hashed, ala' BSG are okay)"
well it certainly wont be "our" star trek but I'm willing to give it a chance
