I know a lot of Trek fans, including the owner of this blog, see the pending new Trek movie through skeptical eyes. That's a pretty rational position considering how often Hollywood screws up established products. The odds are against any remake of anything if the grubby little fingers of Hollywood suits get into the mix.
As someone who watched the original show every day after I got home from school, pieced together models of the Enterprise and it's bridge, played with toy phasers and holds that show in the highest esteem among all things Trek I have to say I'm optimistic. With that in mind this video sort of choked me up...

I remember me and my mom watching it on prime time.
i'm willing to give the new movie a chance.
i've been staying away from a lot of details like the IDW (i think that's the publisher) GN as to not prejudice me
I hated Trek when I was a kid, but then grew to have a grudging fondness for it after "The Wrath of Khan".
That said, everything I've seen of the new movie makes me want to avoid it. Especially Kirk's "Woohoo!"
Wow! Love the music, love the clips...everything. I've always had a fondness for the '60's show...but loved the incarnations that followed: some more than others...New Generation-Great!...Deep Space Nine..liked it well...Voyager I think was my fav...but really liked Enterprise w/Scott Bacula too.
Maybe it's just because I'm a girl (ok, an old one!) but I can't wait to see the new one!
Bring it on. Nice production values on this miniflick BTW.
I hope that the new ST movie is good. I have been watching ST:E lately.
Hey, Swinebread! It's BAC's birthday today!
nice vid but I'm not yet convinced the reimagining of Star Trek will be my cup of tea
Yeah, but a lot of people said that about Battlestar Galactica, too, and look how that turned out. (Then again, I guess the original was never that huge.)
If I had a dollar for all the times Swine put his nose up at mainstream SciFi, I would be able to have a steady income despite my career as an actor.
