I watched Mad Max 2 this last weekend... I hadn't seen it in awhile and I was reminded of what fantastic movie the Road Warrior is.

I was stuck by two things that seemed odd though. The first was that several scenes are sped up to make the action more exciting but to me, with my 21 century eyes, it just looks silly.

The second is the total lack of people who aren't white. I guess we just had to wait for TIna Turner in Mad Max 3.

Mel is great in this film but I realized why his character Max is such a disturbed loner... it's because the The Apocalypse occurred and Jesus didn't come back....

The trailer is kinda boring, but at least it isn't filled with the handful of cliche' effects today's trailers have. They coulda used Don LaFontaine on that one.

It could be that the whiteness of the film was allegorical. In post-crash Australia, the aboriginals couldn't give two shakes about the decline of the oil-powered civilization enough to fight to keep it alive like whitey would.

It was and is still a good movie. If you watch Mad Max, though, you wonder why a sequel was greenlighted...

This movie is so awesome. I love his copter pilot friend. That actor is on the tv series "Seeker" where he plays a wizard, btw.

I've been trying to put my finger on why the third one was so horrible in comparison, even though it had it's moments.

One of the things that annoys me is the anti-violence sentiment that permeates the third film. It's sometimes like an episode of the A-Team. Cars flip over or explode and then they show a gratitous shot of the drivers crawling out of the wreckage so we know they survived.

I think the studio killed that film.
