I was reminded by Dean Wormer that today is the anniversary of Orson Welles' radio broadcast of The War of the Worlds.

RIP Orson!
It bears thinking what Welles would have done if it were not for the studio system of the forties. Would he have been hawking cheap wine?
Also the new Flight 4 anthology has a great War of the Worlds vignette by Bannister.
