Jack O' Lanterns

Some friends came by and we celebrated the season by carving up pumpkins into Jack O' Lanterns. I did a traditional design, its the one on the right. I've been trying every year to get it just right and I think I nailed this time from choosing the correct the shape of the pumpkin to the carving. Next year I can finally move on to something else.

Everybody was really happy with how they all turned out. The one on the left end was actually voted the best and one a prize. My SO's is the pirate ship in the middle. All and all a good time.

More Halloween goodness.

I totally prefer your traditional to the scraped-out silhouette!

I'm planning on doing some traditional and placing them in our woods just visible from the road. Hopefully it will be as creepy in execution as in my brain.

Have you seen the Dr. Doom jack-o-lantern? scroll to near the bottom

Arkonbey – thanks, it’s simple but it looks exactly how I want. It’s great you can present them from the road. I live in a well-lit apartment so no ghostly night image for me.

That Dr. Doom one is great. It gives me some ideas for next year.

Snab – thank you!

Dean – I think so too but I voted for one of our guests.

I miss that tradition in Japan. I have to settle for making paper ones to put in our windows. The kids on the their way to school seem to dig it so maybe I'll make an extra effort next year to find a REAL big orange pumpkin to carve.
