The Oscars… a Few Observations

Best Acceptance Speech:
Tilda Swinton “Michael Clayton” – She was totally shocked that she won and still had the wherewithal to make comments about her agent’s butt and George Clooney acting like Batman on the set.

Best Emotional Reaction – A tie between Marion Cotillard “La Vie en Rose” and Glen Hansard “Falling Slowly” from “Once” (best song)

Best Joke:
That’s’ the most arrogant guy I’ve ever seen (or something like that) John Stewart talking about Glen Hansard.

Best Joke Runner up
"Democrats do have an historic race going. Hillary Clinton vs Barack Obama. Normally, when you see a black man or a woman president an asteroid is about to hit the Statue of Liberty. How will we know it's the future? Silver unitards, that can't be all?"

Most Predicted win:
Daniel Day-Lewis in “There Will Be Blood”

Best Flub Recovery:
Cameron Diaz

Best Slip:
Colin Farrell

Best Joke that went on too long:
The Halle Berry and Judy Dence thing

Best Loser:
George Clooney “Michael Clayton”

Most disappointed look:
Hal Holbrook, “Into the Wild” (Of course he could just be old.)

Best Presenter:
Helen Mirren, I love it when an woman of her caliber says “Cojones”

Best Walk off:
Marion Cotillard and Forest Steven Whitaker

Most Stunning Pregnant Woman:
Cate Blanchett

Most Irony:
A movie about gay rights (Freeheld”) announced as the winner by the military

Best Ah Ha moment:
Hey, all of the actor winners were European.

Best Homoerotic Moment:
Daniel Day Lewis kissing George Clooney

I agree w/all your observations..(there were a couple we missed..but oh well).

I thought the Military announcing the gay film winner one was the BEST! HA HA!

John bringing Marketa back was just plain good manners...obviously a shock and surprise to most folks nowadays, since decent manners have gone out the window (and I'm lookin' at YOU FUNDIE FREAKS!-so called bastion of "family values"...)

My favorite moment was actually after the Oscars when Jimmy Kimmel played his "I'm Fucking Ben Affleck" video.

I did like the part where John Stewart called that composer back on stage to speak. Very cool.

Dean,
I saw the original (Sara Silverman's "I'm Fucking Matt Damon"-hope you caught that too!)

Jimmy's payback video is even more hilarious!

Too bad I missed it the first time around...but they switched directly to Barbara Walters stupid "special")...

I watched some of it but suffered from entertainment overload, so I retired to continue my epic blogging rant.

Great! I missed the bit about "A movie about gay rights (Freeheld”) announced as the winner by the military." Tilda Swinton was great! Despite what some said, I liked her dress.

Great observations here. And personally, the way the Prez race is going, I look forward to the asteroid hitting the earth. I just can't do silver unitards.

I didn't watch the show but I keep hearing about this. What was it all about?

LB-

Taken as a whole those two videos are some of the funniest stuff I've seen in a while. I love that sort of self-depreciating humor with Sarah Silverman and Kimmel making fun of their relationship.

They look like people that would be fun to hang out with.

Dr. S – well it was scripted, and I liked the spontaneous moment better

LB – It was a nice change from where they are usually screwing folks over from getting a change to speak.

Dean – I saw that, very funny…!

LB – I’m sure it’s no the net someplace

Snab – you and billons of others that tuned out!

Dr. Zaius – Tilda is awesome! She just freaks some folks out I guess

Eaglewing – I hear you, maybe the future is now?

POP – Irglova was cut off by the band and didn’t get to say anything, John brought her back after break so she could say her thank yous

Dean – I have to agree, they know what the fun is

Arkonbey – Lowest Oscar viewership of all time, Stewart very had an extend joke about it on his show.
