Bands I Missed: the Donnas

What’s that I hear? Why, it sounds like rock & roll. I’ve missed it so.

How come this all-girl, hard rock band isn’t more popular? I don’t know. But they sure can jam.

Maybe they’re the female Ramones, the inspire everybody and get none of the credit except by a few in the know…

And up until recently I didn’t know, but now I do.

The Donnas, listen and be amazed.

Ah, their song 'Skintight' was on my very first Music to Have Stuck in Your Head While Mountain Biking compilation back in '01. So, I've been digging them since then.

Given the popularity of garage rock type stuff, it is surprising. Maybe because they're not in miniskirts and halter tops like all the other starlets. And they can, you know, play their instruments.

I second Randal's observations.

and my eyes can't see in colour anymore.

Arkonbey – Lucky you I kept seeing there images everywhere and finally I just watched them on youtube and was blown away.

Randal – I think your right about that.

Dr. S – Ditto LOL

Huh, visually interesting-don't like the music. Never was a hard-core rocker...also, since I lived in the area-Palo Alto is the where the bored rich kids go to die, (then ride bikes at Stanford..). Guess I can't get past the spoiled brat white chick "We're Cool!" vibe I get from them...

B-52's, now there's the ticket!

Good group, good music.

the fact that almost all three are smokin hot doesn't hurt either.

Looks like somebody went nuts with Video Toaster on the Amiga. Pretty rockin' chick band.

LB – Yeah I was brainwashed for a while by you but there’s a lot of hard stuff I like especially when it has a punk influence. Plus, they started out during the whole grunge age, which I greatly appreciate.

Nick – It sure doesn’t!

Snab – I knew you’d like ‘em

SB-Me?!..brainwash you?!

"As if!"...but maybe I had a teensy influence...

They're not horrible or anything...just not my thing...perhaps I'd be more into them if I was younger or even remotely interested in what's happening with music nowadays.

But I'm not.

I've got plenty I like to listen to now, and have growing like for 20's, 30's & 40's folk music, jazz and other historical stuff.
