They Still Live... We Still Sleep
I took some time out from carving my Jack-O-lantern last night to watch They Live. Great flick. I hadn't viewed it in a very long time but I really enjoyed it this time around. The perfect B-movie sci-fi comment on our times... still relevant 20 years after it was made. (20 years! sheesh!)
What's extra cool is that They Live adapted a comic book story from one of my all time favortie series Alien Encounters. It was a titled Nada and it appeared in issue #6. Nada adapted the earlier published short story 8 O'Clock in the Morning. John Carpenter secured the rights to both before making the film.
Here's the trailer:
Here's the scene where our hero, played by Rowdy Roddy Piper, discovers what the world is really like for the first time with the help of some special sun glasses.
Don't forget to stay asleep and Obey!

Great flick and Piper is a native Oregonian so it's got that going for it.
ah dude, he's from Canada...
Although he did wrestle for a long time here
Oh Grod...
Now I HAVE TO SEE THIS MOVIE.
Excellent flick, though I heard it isn't on Zombie Reagan's list of favorites. All hail John Carpenter.
Nice...perfect comment on today's Xtreme Nazi/fundie contingent...
Sadly, Heathers is just as relevant today as well...
I've come here to kick ass and chew bubblegum and I'm all out of bubblegum!
TF: This movie is SO up your alley
They Live has one of the greatest fight scenes in movie history...AND one of the greatest last scenes in movie history...plus re-used props from Ghostbusters!
oh, hey, and why is the last graphic on this post from a McCain rally?
Rob! - Also what seems like one of the longest fight scenes in movie history. Which lends to its greatness.
spin-
oh, absolutely! it goes on FOREVER, which makes it so much fun. plus, crotch-kicking!
arkonbey: man, just for that line, I BELIEVE you ;-P
You are awesome for two reasons.
1.) You actually remember They Live
2.) In posting you made me remember the alleyway fight scene, which honestly how does a person go through life WITHOUT having seen that fight.
Now I am suddenly reminded of the South Park homage to it.....ah yes...cripple fight.....the memories
