I'm going to Cloverfield on opening night.
Not that I'm that excited about the movie but I want to see that Star Trek trailer.
Heh heh I knew it.
I still need to see I Am Legend.
Oh, man. I SO want Cloverfield to be good. I just have the horrible feeling that it will be all 'hand-held' filmed and I will hate it.
Swine: I haven't seen it yet, but a trusted friend of mine saw it and he echoed the thoughts of all the reviews:
first 1.5 hrs = great
second .5 hour = terrible.
He said it had a deus ex machina that he thought was worse than the ones in 'Signs'...
Also: curse you for making these interesting lists. I could do a post on my feelings on each of these, but I can't (won't) do that here. Much.
I thought it was great, actually and sorry again we didn't hook up.
One of the things I really liked is they threw a pretty good twist in at the end which through those that knew the story for a loop.
The ending was different than the book but worth it in order to get that twist in, IMO.
In that sense I took it to be for fans of the book.
Plus Wil Smith was great.
The only ones on that list I'm particularly looking forward to are Iron Man and Harry Potter.
I like what I've seen from Cloverfield so far but I'm just cringing at the thought that it'll be all hype and no there there. For me, 2008 is all about Indy 4, The Dark Knight and Forbidden Kingdom ... Go Jackie Chan and Jet Li!
Excited About:
Harry Potter
Iron Man
Narnia
Somewhat Excited About:
Star Trek
James Bond
Not Excited About:
Cloverfield (aka The Blair Alien Project AND trailer filled with most formulaic sound cliches)
Horton Hears another boring CGI vehicle full of smart ass remarks by bored comedians
Speed Racer (well, the characters are the same...)
Rambo (oh, for the love of God)
Ambivalent about the rest.
I'm too lazy to watch all the vid's
Just wanna see Indiana Jones & Harry Potter...
Daniel Radcliffe is so dreamy you know?...
I am excited about:
Cloverfield
Hellboy 2
10,000 BC
Wall-E
Bond 22
for unspeakable, mind-melting reasons.
Also, Swiney - did you forget "CJ7?"
It's coming out at the end of this month.

Stephen Chow is one of the best writer/director (not to mention actor) in genre films these days.
I laugh my ass off at his films.
It looks like there is a lot of "starting over" this year, with the Hulk and Star Trek being remade, restarted and (hopefully) re-energized. But also "Rambo"? Is Sylvester Stallone feeling old and trying to recapture his (long gone) youth by recreating his 80's role? Didn't he try that last year with "Rocky Balboa"?
I agree with Snabulus that "Cloverfield" looks like "The Blair Witch Project" crossed with the American version of "Godzilla". Let's hope not.
And "Speed Racer"...never mind.
Scott
ha ha ha this movie is going to suck ha ha ha!
oh no!
I'm going off the track ha ha ha ha I'm going to die horribly ha ha ha!
Note: I the first time through I forgot to include Hellboy and Whiteout, Crazy me
Arkonbey – Funny, I wasn’t even aware of it until a couple of days ago, from the trailer it looks like it might be a little too tiny bopper for me. But I’ve been wrong before.
As for I am Legend – I simply have to see it. I actually watched the first 15 min in the theater but had to leave ☹
If you see Dean’s comment, folks who have read the book liked the twist ending.
Dean - yeah I need to see it but now my schedule won’t permit it.
Will – I really want to see Iron Man too. But Harry sadly …. not so much
Meldie – I’m worried about the hype too.
I’m really excited about Indy 4 though but I’ve had to turn off that part of my brain so I don’t try freeze myself like Cartman. The idea of Jackie and Jet together is exciting too.
Snab – We are on the same page with Iron Man, when it comes to Narnia I didn’t bother with the first film. It looked too McMagic for me. Plus the whole christen allegory turned me off. But if you enjoyed it maybe I watch it.
I’m also trying to lower my expectations for Star Trek; I just can’t see how it could be any good with new actors.
Horton I suspect will be bad because it works as a short story/cartoon and not a full film. I’m loath to think of all the things they will have to add to the plot to make it feature length.
LB – Indy 4 all the way, Potter? Ahh….
Doc S. – I’m with you on Hellboy 2, he’s my SO’s favorite American Comic character. Pixar has a good track record but Wall-E is giving me weird vibes for some reason.
Dean – Ah… I watched the trailer, I’m not sure I wanna’ see a movie about a screaming kid but never say never.
Alan – that’s a good point and I was thinking the same exact thing about Rambo. Heh heh… As for Speed Racer I have a feeling it’s gonna be middle of the road. Not good, not bad. But they have more chances of getting it wrong.
Doc S – it could, yes
I wanna see "Iron Man" and "Speed Racer"!
Count me in for Iron Man, I want Speed Racer to be good too.
I hated Short circuit... and despite Wall-E bares a striking resemblence to that annoying fellow, they used the 'Brazil' signature tune in the trailer... so I just have to see it.... that's how I roll.
and I agree completely with you on hellboy and narnia. I thoroughly disliked narnia, but unfortunately somebody bought me the dvd as a birthday present so... meh.
I personally couldn't care less for speed racer. I only saw a few old clips of it on youtube and thought it was so ridiculous that I was amazed they are actually going to try and make a film out of it. ha ha ha it will suck ha ha ha!
ooooh!
Iron man looks cool, but... meeeeh.
Indy 4 just scares the shit out of me.
I kinda liked Ang Lee's Hulk, so the incredible Hulk will probably breeze by me.
I am Legend just doesn't interest me at all. A remake of a remake? no way.
I would also like it if Kung Fu Panda didn't suck. Just cos I love Jack Black.
Dr. S. - Ah maybe that's why Wall-E is weirding me out. Good catch.
