I Voted... Again!

Filled out my ballot and sent her in!

Now all I have to do is wait until the 4th of November.

Oh and I wasn't wearing only my birthday suit this time around. (see here if you dare)

Followed your link. Dude, that looked...well...I am blushing to be sure.

I went through and wrote my opinions out. I still have one state ballot measure I am not sure about. Then I will finally fill out my ballot.

I tried to get a $10 million bond measure on the ballot to improve my house, to no avail.

I remember when a revival of "Walt Kelly's Pogo", drawn by a new artist, started being printed in the Sunday Funnies of the Oregonian. It came in amidst much hype and fanfare. It barely lasted two months.

It was even more politically preachy than the original Pogo but wasn't nearly as clever. It sounded more like whining than witty sarcasm. In that respect, even though I liked the original Pogo, I was happy to see the new one get pulled, and quickly.

However, at the same time, I was surprised at some of the comments (read "complaints") people were making both in the Oregonian's op-ed section and around me at college. It was funny enough hearing people accuse Pogo of being a "Bloom County rip-off". (Um...are we a bit chronologically challenged?) What really got me, though, was all the people griping that Pogo was "racist" because the characters talk with Southern drawls! (Um...are we a bit PC obsessed?)

Still, Pogo was, is, and ever shall be Pogo. He is a classic.

But I'm voting for Bill the Cat!

My dad loved Pogo and had several of the original books. He used to quote him all the time (i.e. "Why is it called New-clear power?" "Cause it ain't so new and it ain't so clear."). Also, isn't Bloom County just a Doonesbury rip off?

Pogo rules. "We have met the enemy and he is us."
