Toys for a Tot

I don’t want to turn this into the Swinebread Jr.’s blog, this is Atomic Romance after all, but where my pending son’s life intersects with pop culture and comics, I’ll happily post away. I might start another blog if I feel the need to talk extensively about my upcoming fatherhood. Anyway, here are a couple of fun shots.

The first is a shelf of toys from SB jr’s room. Don’t worry it’s up high where he won’t be able to get his hands on anything for years to come and we’ve got other age appropriate toys.

From left to right: Baby Bugs cloth book, Ultraman, Spiderman bank, Totoro, Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Owly, some random rabbit behind him, Peter Rabbit, another random rabbit (in back), Mr. Usaji [portmanteau of the words usagi (うさぎ?), (rabbit), and jii-chan (じいちゃん?) (grandpa)] He’s a supporting character on Domokun’s NHK show, Nyan-mage the Edo Wonderland mascot cat. Plus there’s a little hippy Volkswagen Bug in front.

The prevalence of bunny rabbits is due to Mrs. Swinebread. She likes rabbits quite a bit. I think Easter is her favorite American holiday based on Rabbit imagery alone.

Looks like I’ll need to pick up a plush Smurf, Godzilla, Vulcan, and Cthulhu to round this set out properly. Heh heh…

This second pic is an image of Swinebread Jr.’s new kid-sized rocking chair. It’s currently occupied by the Wolf-man, the bride of Frankenstein, and a Tribble.

Don't let me over to your apartment or I'll swipe that tribble.

You'll probably know. It'll be screaming like I was a Klingon.

Cthulhu, aye?

Hmmmmm.

Congrats on the upcoming arrival of your son!

If you are looking for anything geeky for the room from SDCC let me know and I'll troll the floor for you

Them's the baddest-ass plushies ever. The Rocking Chair Gang is the best, but I'm very happy to see a totoro.

So, you're gonna let the little guy drool all over your toys?

Heh.

Just make sure the 20 sided dice are too big to swallow.

Would you like to adopt me? I want to stay in that room!

Congratulations in written form... I am so excited for you and your SO. What a thrilling experience you are in for!

Ah! There is Nyan-mage the Edo Wonderland mascot cat. Cool! (Does the Frankenstein monster know that his intended bride is hanging out with the Wolfman?)

Dean – It’s pretty cool. It purrs and everything

Pidomon – Wow that’s a very generous offer! And Wow you’re going to the SDCC. Maybe something Smurfy or Captain Carroty? Please don’t spend a lot of time but if you come across something that would be very Cool. You’re quite the man Pido!

Arkonbey – The Totoro is cool because we actually picked him up at the studio Ghibli museum in Japan.

Well, as most of these aren’t infant safe, I’d not want to really let him suck on them but we do have other infant toys for him to mess up.

OD – LOL, I actually packed up all my small gamming stuff. Just because of that.

Heidi – LOL, well, now that we cleaned it out that would it be great! … You’d have to curl up it fit in the crib though…

Thank you Heidi for your kind words and for keeping the secret!

POP – I sure hope I can make him as happy as possible without spoiling him, but I suspect that his mother would never let that happen.

Doc S – as you can see from this site http://www.palleyd.com/univ15inch.html
They have been sold out for a while. Sorry…

Randal – I know I did, and little SB will too!

Dr. Zaius – You’re actually part of the inspiration post doc, because of your Nyan-mage image.

For some reason, franky hasn’t figured it out yet. You tell him will you?

Your child will be a collector's item some day...keep them safe and in mint condition with our special archival crib. Your child's pages will stay crisp and their colors will not fade.

Darn you Swinebread! You're supposed to say that you got your totoro at jbox like everyone else...

Snab: I think that the correct, modern method is sealing your collectible child in Lucite.

Good grief! I'm out of it for a little while...

Congratulations! I feel bad coming into this news so late! Welcome to the Dad Club!

snab - lol your the greatest! He will be a collectors item but I'll have to give him up someday so he can start his own collection

arkonbey - sorry, gulp... I didn't even know about jbox

moody - Well it's not like you're a busy guy... ;) and thanks!
