Japanese Band

While I'm trying to find time to write my next installment of Trip to Japan. I thought I would post this flyer that I picked up at Fuji TV for a Japanese Band. I know nothing about them but they sure have an interesting look especially that gasmask guy.

And that's not just gasmask guy, that's Dr. Beatified Mexican Spiderman Wrestler Gasmask Guy!

The Store Was All Out of More Interesting Headger, So I Bought This Hat Guy

Mr. Underpants-on-his-head (which would fit better if I could say it in Japanese)

Heh heh, they are all boys although some of them do have a kinda’ Bowie atmosphere. They're called Sendaikamotsu, which means something like Sendai Cargo with Senadai being a place.

The band's name translates as "Sendai Freight". (Sendai is a city in northern Japan.)

The outfits worn by all except gas mask man and evil hair dude look like senior high school uniforms. Talk about disaffected youth!

Umm...

Just for fun I checked out their website and watched one linked video clip from their new live DVD.

Oh, boy...

The clown-faced guy is the lead singer (and in the video he has an afro-haired dummy strapped to him for reasons unknown). Mr. Gold Duck-butt on the right is the lead guitarist. The guy on the far left (Angus Geek?) is the rhythm guitarist (and he even plays an SG like Angus Young). Fu Manchu plays bass. The guy with the white cowl over his head is the drummer. No sign of gas-mask man, so I don't know what his excuse is. (Keyboardist maybe?)

The clip wasn't very long. They didn't sound bad at all, but there wasn't anything particularly special about them. They sounded like just about every other Japanese punk-pop group out there. Their bizarre get-up was about their only selling point.

Well, that and maybe their suddenly chanting, "Sendai Kamotsu, everybody...GAY!!!"

"Gay" definitely seems to be a recurring theme on their website, too, but in such an over-the-top way that it's probably just an attempt at humor.

Next band, please...

That band looks like something I would enjoy un-sober.

I like all the names above but really the gas-mask guy is an evil Emperor's Guard/ 1984/ Snuffilufigus hybrid.
