Goodbye Steve Gerber
Sadly, Steve Gerber has died. See Mark Evanier’s post here.
Most famous as the creator of Howard the Duck (the comic), Steve is fondly remembered by me for his work on The Defenders, The Guardians of the Galaxy, and the best cartoon of all time: Thundarr the Barbarian.
Thanks Steve for so many great times while growing up. You will be missed by this old fanboy…

I remember Thundarr's Christmas special. Even Skeletor learned the value of giving over his howls of "But I like being evil!"
Thank you Mr. Gerber. You will be missed.
I was as much into TV as any kid in the 80's but Thundarr was the only Must-Watch show on my list. If there were bikes to be ridden or Legos to be built with, Superfriends, Blackstar, even Flash Gordon took a backseat. But Thundarr? Oh, that was the show.
Man. I'm getting all nostalgic. Seriously. RIP, sir, you made my childhood summers
I didn't know Gerber did Thundarr! That show rocked! Ahhh, the memories....memories of the aches Ariel used to give me...
I need another drink...so I can toast Mr. Gerber!
(No, really!)
Snab – A crossover would have been fun.
Arkoenbey – I’m with you man, Thundarr had that certain magic. If only they’d gotten the DVD collection out before he died. I know they are working on it. They came so close to a Third season… So long Steve…
Moody – Ah Ariel, Let’s Ride!
wow.
unfortunately I have only heard of the series until recently and have never seen it.
In Mr.Gerber's honour, I shall search high and low for videos of Thundarr.
To Mr. Gerber!
*Raises goblet of rock*
may his atoms become the hearts of the stars themselves.
Oh noes! No more hot magic chick?
Aarrggggghhhhh!
doc s - they have some on youtube
dean - well we need it on dvd
Lords of Light! Demon Dogs!
Thundarr rocked. So much better than most other Saturday morning cartoons.
And Gerber was doing comedy in comic books long before many others.
Yeah he was great! Too bad he smoked
Ookla was 10 times better than any wookiee
I didn't know he had anything to do with Thundarr.
One more win for Gerber.
fade -Hells Yeah!
JZ - yeah, it's one of those things I learned later in life.
